PayPal is the world's premier service for sending and receiving funds, and they needed their entire mobile checkout process to be redone with an eye to the best practices and high performance. This was a high-value improvment that would directly affect the bottom line of PayPal's customers (and therefore that of PayPal itself).
PROBLEM AND PROCESS
PayPal's pre-existing mobile checkout process was coded in C and Java. It was difficult to maintain, and it gave users an experience that was not consistent with the level of quality they had come to expect from the rest of PayPal's product offerings. However, any change to this workflow needed to be executed with extreme care. Any errors could have significant consequences for PayPal's customers.
Therefore, Infuse had a short list of critical needs to meet:
- Create a robust new mobile checkout flow that handled merchant data with high reliability.
- Improve UI and performance to be in line with the high expectations of PayPal's Customers.
Infuse became an integral part of PayPal's team, even working out of PayPal's headquarters for the extent of the project. This ensured effective communication and enabled infuse to seemlessly integrate pushed code with the rest of PayPal's codebase.
Infuse delivered a redesigned UI and more efficient handling of merchant data, as well as robust error handling, unit testing, end-to-end testing, and analytics.
This close collaboration between Infuse and Paypal produced a new mobile checkout flow that provided elegant and functional UI for users to interact with while providing all of the necessary functionality. The code also remains robust and highly maintainable.
The delivery was so successful that Infuse and PayPal have continued to work together on further initiatives.
